Lotus seed pod is Part of the "seed head" of the Lotus plant (Nelumbo nucifera), these unique, light-as-a-feather botanicals average 3.5- 4 inches (approx. 8.89-10.16 cm) in diameter, and are a really cool piece of decor for a Southeast Asian or Indian-themed aquarium!
These seed pods are the by-product of human food production in India (almost every part of this plant is considered edible!), and are simply collected, cleaned, and air dried, free from chemicals or preservatives.
PREPARATION:
Our technique consists of boiling them for approximately 40 minutes or so, followed by an overnight soak. Being super lightweight and quite buoyant, it will take a bit of effort! One of the best things you can do is to hold them down for a short periods of time during the boiling process to really get them saturated. It also helps to gently squeeze out all the excess air underneath the water. They're about (6-10cm) in diameter on average, These pods will leach some tannins into the water.
