Botanicals Kurrajong Pods - 7 pieces
Brachychiton Gregorii, commonly known as the kurrajong, is a small to medium-sized tree native to Australia. It thrives in a variety of habitats, ranging from wetter coastal regions to semi-arid areas in Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. The tree's elongated trunk serves as a water storage mechanism, allowing it to survive in warm, dry climates.
The kurrajong can be classified into two main types: the Western and Central Desert Kurrajong, which features a wider, more bird-like pod shape, and the Eastern/Queensland kurrajong, known for its boat-shaped pods. Notably, the pods from the Western and Central varieties are less common than their Queensland counterparts.
On average, these pods measure between 6-10 cm in length and 3-4 cm in width. They may leach some tannins when soaked in water.
Preparation:
To prepare kurrajong pods, boil them for at least an hour—sometimes longer—to ensure they become thoroughly saturated, as they tend to float when first immersed.
Origin:
Our kurrajong pods are sourced from the Northern Territory of Australia.
All our Australian botanicals are pest- and pollution-free and are organically sourced.
Note:
As natural products, kurrajong pods exhibit variations in color, size, and texture, making each pod unique. The accompanying photo provides a reasonable representation of what to expect.
