Acanthastrea lordhowensis:

Quick Stats:

-          Lighting: Low to Moderate

-          Flow: Moderate

-          Placement: Bottom to Middle

-          Feeding: Photosynthetic but accept small meaty foods

-          Aggressiveness: Moderate

Characteristics:  Acanthastrea lordhowensis, now reclassified as Micromussa, have large fleshy polyps that can protrude a ways from their skeleton when they are kept in the ideal conditions.

Colour: These corals come in a large variety of colours from green, to red, to gold and rainbow colours.

Lighting: Acans prefer low to moderate lighting from about 30 – 100 PAR.

Flow: Moderate flow tends to suit these corals as it helps keep debris from accumulating on them but not strong enough to blow them away and damage them.

Placement: They should be placed near the bottom or middle of the tank and not too close to other corals as they can be aggressive.

Feeding: Acans can photosynthesise but will accept small meaty foods such as small coral pellets or mysis shrimp.
